No-Gi Rules, Time Limits, & Points
TIME LIMITS:
All Kids & Teenagers
• All Skill Levels = 3 Min

Men, Women, Masters
• All Masters skill levels = 4 Min
• Beginners = 5 Min
• Intermediate = 6 Min
• Advanced = 7 Min

POINTS:

Takedowns / 2 POINT
You must initiate the takedown & end in a top position long enough to have control of your opponent

Sweep / 2 POINT
Going from bottom Guard or ½ Guard to a ‘top’ position.

Dominant Control / 2 POINTS
Dominant Control is any secure form of control that lends itself to submission. The control has to be long enough to set up a submission attempt. These positions include Side Control, Knee on Stomach, North-South, Scarf Hold, or 'back grab' position.

Mount / 2 POINTS
To gain Mount points, the competitor must have both knees on the mat & be 'chest-2-chest' with their opponent.

Rear Mount / 2 POINTS
To gain Rear Mount points, the competitor must have both 'hooks' secured or a 'body triangle' on their opponent.

Submission Attempts / 2 POINTS
Any strong submission attempt that an opponent has to defend with more than just changing positions, but use of strength and technique to escape the attempt.

RULES:
• T-shirts or a Rash Guard must be worn during the match.
• Fighters are NOT allowed to grab and use their opponents clothing while applying submission techniques or going for a takedown.
• No Slamming (from the Guard or Takedown).
• No throwing an opponent off the mat or spiking an opponent on his/her head
• No strikes of any kind
• No attacks to the front of the windpipe (i.e. Finger in throat), eyes (elbows, palms, fingers, etc.) or groin.
• No pushing palm or elbow directly into nose.
• No small joint manipulation (fingers or toes)
• No spitting and or swearing. Also, any "sudden outbursts" made by a competitor during a match will be considered a “Verbal Tap”, and will results in an immediate Ref. stoppage.
• Any intentional use of an illegal technique or act of poor sportsmanship will result in the immediate ejection of that competitor.
• If competitors are deadlocked or go out of bounds without being in a dominate position, the referee may re-start the match from a standing position.
• Competitor can not disengage from the “fight” once it is on the ground. 1st offense will result in a warning, 2nd offense in a 1 point deduction, 3rd offense will result in disqualification.
• A competitor can not exit the ring at any time to escape a submission that is “locked in”.
• All matches will be decided by the referee. In the event that fighter are equal in terms of points, The Referee will determine the winner by considering first, who skillfully controlled the Pace, Place, and Position on the mat, in order to ultimately set up an eventual submission. Pace is, which Grappler determined the tempo of the match. Place is, which Grappler dictated where on the mat the match took place. Position is, which Grappler successfully initiated the tie ups and other action.
• The Referee can decide to allow for ONE 2 Min. over time. But only if he feels that both competitors were equal after regulation is over. After the Over Time period, the Referee will make a decision based on the criteria above.
• Referee’s decision is Final!

SPECIAL RULES ALL KIDS & TEEN NO-GI COMPETITORS:
• NO SUBMIISSIONS ALLOWED for the 6-8 years olds! (all skill levels)
• No attacks below the waist (No Knee bars, straight ankle locks, or toe holds)
• No wrist locks
• No neck cranks (i.e. can opener)

SPECIAL RULES FOR ADULT BEGINNER NO-GI COMPETITORS:
• No heel hooks, toe holds, crucifixes, & bicep or calf slicers

TIME LIMITS:
All Kids & Teenagers

• Purple Belt & Above = 7 Min

POINTS (as defined by the CBJJ):

• Knee locks, Biceps Locks, Calf Locks, Knee Bars, and Toe Holds are allowed!

* We will separate girls from boys, but girls can still compete in both gender groups

* Teen Competitors may choose to compete in either the Teen divisions or the Adult division, NOT BOTH!

* PLEASE NOTE, there is NO SUBMIISSIONS ALLOWED for the 6-8 years olds! (all skill levels)

* All Kid's (11 and under) that weigh 170 lbs. or over will need to compete with the teens.

* Besides their ages, Kid's will be matched by weight & skill level.

* We request that if you placed 1st in a prior OGC event, you SHOULD move up a skill level in order to continue to test your abilities!

* We reserve the right to subdivide or combine the above weight classes the day of the event depending on competitor turnout.

* We reserve the right to separate girls from boys when there are 2 or more girls in a specific skill level & weigh class.
